Welcome to the Roosevelt Island Jewish Congregation
As a neighbor, you are invited to join us -- to learn, pray and celebrate with Jews of all ages and diverse backgrounds.
Our services and activities are open to everyone, adults and families. Through prayer, music, study and, yes, food, we connect with our traditions and share in life cycle events, as well as teach our children the culture.
Highlights of the year 5772 are:
Monthly Shabbat services on one or two Fridays, some with pot luck dinners
Family-centric services and activities
Childrens' Services and Events
Special Succot, Chanukah, Tu B'Shvat and Purim celebrations
Adult Education Classes

TRUSTEES' MESSAGE TO THE COMMUNITY
As we approach the High Holy Days andbegin a new year of Shabbat services, festival celebrations and special events, the Roosevelt Island Jewish Congregation invites you to review our High Holy Days mailing and information packet. Complete instructions are provided to help you renew your membership, so you can plan to join us at the Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur services, beginning Wednesday, September 28 at 7:30 pm.
You'll also note the RIJC has scheduled a variety of events that are interesting, meaningful and, sometimes, different. More details will be available as each date approaches, both on the website www.RIJC.org and via email announcements. Please contact Scot Bobo at Information@RIJC.org to be kept up to date.
Our wonderful Rabbi, Rabbi Moritt, is beginning her fifth year with us. She continues to guide us both spiritually and intellectually, through happy and sad times. Rabbi Moritt leads us in prayers and celebrations, helping us to be joyful or mourn, and teaches us on historical and contemporary topics and themes. She is excited about the new ideas she will share with us in the coming year.
As Rabbi Moritt reminds us, we are a special covenantal community; your presence at services, celebrations, special events and activities is essential to the success of our congregation. You can demonstrate your support and commitment through financial contributions, and also by volunteering your time, ideas and occasionally your labor to make sure events are enjoyed and appreciated, and also well-attended.
You have something special you can share to make this New Year a great one for the RIJC. Come with your children, who have enjoyed many RIJC activities in the past. Bring neighbors and new residents with you and encourage them to join you at the RIJC. We look forward to seeing you soon.
